Bruce
Bruce likes to steal things and will eat some of them if they’re not taken away from him. We use a water spray bottle, which he doesn’t like, to recover whatever he gets hold of. He has swallowed 2 dish cloths in the past and passed one in a stool, with the help of a laxative, and regurgitated the other one. He especially likes dish cloths, face cloths, towels, underwear, and socks. He has also chewed a remote control and headphones, so is not particular about the texture of what he chews up. He will growl if you try to take a bone away from him, but he is all talk and we take it away anyway if necessary. When he’s chewed a bone down to only the marrow left, he asks you to dig the marrow out for him. I think some of the above habits would stop if he gets the exercise he needs. He needs to go to an active person or family who will make sure he gets his exercise; also someone who will stay aware of his idiosyncrasies and is also aware that bloating is a problem common to bloodhounds, though we have not had a bloating problem to date. He will require either a large acreage away from roads or a good fence to keep him away from roads. Learning to track would be ideal for him but we’d prefer he wasn’t used to hunt wildlife. He is quite strong and we use a halti to walk him and he responds to that very well.
We would like a reference(s) from any prospective new home, including a vet reference. As we are willing to give him to a good home, he would not come with registration papers.
