Buddy

Hi Beth, XXXXX name is now Bud or Buddy (dull, I wanted to call him Chaos, but it's his dog) Needless to say it was a very lively and interesting presentation when I got home. I got him in the house without being seen, (although he almost ripped my arm out of the socket) let the dog loose to greet Lorne when he came out of the other room, the cat made an appearance, the dog bounded at her, cat and dog flew down the stairs, a big yip from the basement, cat and dog fly back up the stairs, cat launches herself on the kitchen counter, I get her down and put her on her chair, dog still is a little enthusiastic and overexcited about this new member, does another catapult at her, we can't grab the dog, cat climbs on a ledge with Lorne's collectible toy tractors and knocks a bunch of them down the stairs. Okay, not quite the scene I had imagined. We had to go out for dinner that night, so 15 minutes after the dog arrived we had to put him in the barn, which was a wrestling match, cause he wanted to stay with us. So, there's both of us leaning against the doors trying to keep him from escaping while we jam 2x4's against them. He was still there when we got back, and at that point it was a debate whether we even wanted to let him come in the house for a few hours before bedtime. We did, and he wandered and wandered and paced and would climb in our laps because apparently somebody told him he was a chihuahua. The next day he got to play outside with the neighbours puppy and blew off some energy, and again we had to go out for supper, and put him in the barn (which he was not happy about) and nailed the doors shut to make sure he wouldn't push them open. When we got home to let him out, he comes zooming by us, having shoved the doors of the barn open(strong as a moose) but at least he didn't run away. He likes being tied on the zip line in the hay shed, and is quite content and happy to be there when we go away. Obviously he has been tied a lot, knows how to untangle himself with no problem. He certainly is affectionate, and doesn't have a mean bone in his body. After the 2nd day, he was a totally different dog, settled down on his blanket with his stuffed bunny under his head and slept for hours in the house. Got a good wake up when he roared into the bedroom and launched himself from about 8 feet way onto the bed! Got kicked by my mare the first day, out goofing around bouncing behind them, but she knew he was just a stupid pup and booted him gently. He pretty well sticks to your side when outside, and comes bounding back from wherever he is when called, (unless involved in a good wrestling match with the neighbours dog, then there is selective hearing loss) He has wandered across the road off the property a couple of times, so we'll have to nail him on this one, don't want him getting hit by a car. Of course, he has no idea what sit or lie down means, but knows what 'get out of the kitchen' means. Stole some buns off the table yesterday, wasn't even a reach for him, nose level is fair game I guess. Anyway, if the cat don't run he just wants to sniff her, no accidents in the house, but is definitely a dog that needs a firm hand otherwise he'll just ignore you. Anyway, yes, we do love him to death, exasperating as it is sometimes, but he is such a loveable goof you can't help but laugh.
